And we’re back….

Back from the summer holidays, back from Brussels, back to school for the kids, back to college for me & the husband.

The return from my annual trip to Brussels heralds the end of the summer and the start of the new school year. I had great plans for the summer – projects to complete, blogs to write, home improvements to get cracking on. I did none of it. Instead, I had a staycation in Ringsend, a couple of camping trips in our new tent and a quick trip to Utrecht. I went to lots of gigs, played a couple of gigs and saw a couple of musicals.

Some of my friends are back too. Around Covid times, almost all of my besties moved away to far flung parts, but during this summer some of them came back – from UAE, Chili, New York. I’m so happy to have them back around. I also reconnected with an old, old friend and it’s great to have her back in my life too.

And now it’s back to the grindstone. I’ve had a slight change in direction in my college course (Immersive Media Production, how are ya) and so exciting times ahead as we settle into our new routines and new adventures with new and old friends.

It’s great to be back.

    Big Birthdays

We had a significant birthday in our house this week. Our son with Down Syndrome turned 12. And what a 12 years it has been.  I cried in the lift heading up to the labour ward – I knew something big was about to happen. A couple heading out with their newborn, thinking I was…

  • And we’re done…

The last assignment has been submitted and so, just like that, year one is done.   It’s been a tough year, learning how to balance the dramas of family life with my precarious health, full-time college, keeping the house up and running and the family fed, but it’s been great too. I’ve had so much…

  • Never a Dull Moment

As my son gets older, he finds ever more ingenious ways to keep us on our toes. Over the years, he has filled the oven with random stuff and turned it on. He has chopped blueberries with a chefs knife. He once painted his entire head black – face, neck, hair, even the insides of his…

  • No way, José

I have finally found something to say no to! Since starting my course in Ballyfermot, I have actively tried to take part in everything I can. I am that mature student who puts their hand up for everything. I am making the most of every minute and doing as much as I can in the…
