I’m on a break

I had great plans for a month to myself between finishing college and the first of the kids finishing up school for the summer. However, as soon as I handed in that last assignment, all the stuff I’ve been putting off all year came home to roost, and I have been running around like a blue-arsed fly.

Amidst all the domestic dramas, we’ve had a few trips to the hospital in recent weeks. One kid had a planned procedure – routine but traumatic. Another concussed themselves and so we had a visit to A&E. Thankfully everyone is ok.

But then I got a call from my GP to tell me I needed emergency surgery, and my first thought was “Brilliant – a day off”. It’s a sorry state of affairs when you have to look forward to some surgery to get a bit of down time around here.  My private health insurance got me a room in Vincents with a sea view and I tell you, it’s the best holiday I’ve had so far this year.
