Personal Challenges

The topic of personal challenges has come up a few times this week. A friend was talking about a 30 day declutter challenge. You get rid of 1 item on day 1, 2 items on day 2, etc. Apparently, by day 30 you’re tearing the gaff apart looking for things to get rid of.

So, a personal challenge. I should look into that.

Last Summer, I did a weight loss programme – that’s a challenge, right? I walked for an hour every day and stuck to a pretty tight calorie allowance. It was really tough going, but one of the things that kept me going was the little dopamine hits from ticking off the daily tasks on an app. You can’t beat a little green tick.

So here’s me, looking for a new personal challenge. Should I do the 30-day de-clutter? Maybe one of those burpee challenges? But where will I find the time?

I started a college course in September. Its full time with a lot of modules and assignments.  I’m a home maker with a husband, 2 kids and a house to run. I’m a carer to a child with special needs. So where will I find the time for a new challenge?

Then the penny dropped – I’m already doing it! And I love it. The only thing that’s missing are some boxes to tick for that dopamine hit. So, I’m compiling a list and every day I will tick off all the things I’ve accomplished. And I will be delighted with myself.
